Lookout is an Android app designed to help people who are blind or visually impaired gain more independence by giving real-time spoken cues about objects, text and people around them. Lookout can be used with minimal interaction, allowing users to stay engaged with their current activity.

Daniel DeLeon never imagined he would use machine learning to study endangered whales. But a life-long passion for music and fascination with the science of sound led him to an internship at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, where he used TensorFlow, Google’s open-source machine learning tool, to make breakthroughs identifying endangered whale calls.
